Foal training and groundwork

Foal training and groundwork
Foal training

We believe in the importance of imprenting the foals and learning them the foal ABC as soon as possible to get easy, good minded babies. After birth we wipe our foals with a towel, making the first desensitizing. We touch them and hug them everywhere possible. Ofcourse it's very important to let them rest and give them time with mommy. We do this throughout the first days, introducing ropes, plastic, towels, halter, making a start to introduce them to get away from pressure. We do this in very short sessions in a very fun way. All our youngsters love to work with us. They see us as part of their youngster lives. After they understand what we want, we stop practising on a daily basis and let them just enjoy their childhood with their moms on the fields asking them now and then.

Groundwork

We teach all our young horses to give to halter pressure, to back up, to flex, to yield the hind quarters and do a spin. We use a knot halter for our adult horses and also our youngsters. During groundwork we introduce to them many strange and scary objects, let them cross or jump over different objects and some horses we even do some liberty with.
